Sites of interest or utility
Gibraltar Nature Reserve, Upper Rock, is an environmental jewel. It has some of its most important historical sites, such as St Michael’s Cave, the Great Siege Tunnels, the City Under Siege Exhibition, the Moorish Castle, Apes’ Den/Barbary Macaques, Mediterranean Steps, the World War II Tunnels and the old Jewish Cemetery.
Also, visiting Gibraltar Botanic Gardens is a must. The spectacular Alameda Gardens show the wonderful flora and fauna that we can find in Gibraltar.
Another recommendable place is the Gibraltar National Museum and Moorish Baths that were built in what is the current basement of the museum. Founded in 1930, it houses a large number of collections of history, culture and nature, as well as paintings, drawings, engravings and various objects.
What to do in Gibraltar
There are beautiful beaches in Gibraltar, some being rocky and others sandy. These include Eastern beach, Catalan Bay, Sandy Bay, Little Bay and Camp Bay.
An ideal place to enjoy the breathtaking views of Gibraltar is the cable car upper station, which is located 412 meters above sea level. The Skywalk, a glass walkway located 340 meters above sea level, also offers spectacular views.
Monkey Talk Gibraltar is an essential experience for lovers of animals and nature: an educational encounter with macaques.
In Gibraltar several special activities take place, such as the Calentita Festival, a gastronomic event with international dishes, including “la calentita”, a kind of typical cake of the Gibraltarian gastronomy.
